The hotel is located just 5 minutes walk from the nearest Piccadilly (direct trains to the airport). It is also near the bus station and tram stations. A valet parking service can be arranged upon arrival. A multi-storey car park is near. The Britannia Hotel dates back to 1858. This was the first wholesale shop in self-service. It then became the most famous warehouse of the cotton industry. An elevator can reach every floor and every room. Rooms with baths are available adapted for the disabled. The restaurants and bars are accessible by stairs. Please note that the restaurant's french Crompton is not accessible to disabled people.

Restaurants and Bars

Crompton's French Restaurant:
Along with its traditional, intimate decor, the restaurant offers superb French cuisine with service to match. Full à la carte and fixed price menus are available, with meals served from 18:00 to 21:45 (Monday to Saturday).

Crompton's Bar:
Adjoining Crompton's French Restaurant, the bar offers a wide range of cocktails and aperitifs amid elegant surroundings. The bar stays open for residents until very late in the evening.

Jenny's Restaurant and Bar:
A modern restaurant and bar, very popular with the locals. The Big Britannia Breakfast is served here, with its extensive selection of hot and cold dishes. At lunchtime, there is a super value buffet and traditional roast meal on Sundays. In the evening, an extensive fixed price menu offers a selection of traditional and modern tasty meals.

The Pizzeria:
Enjoy the jolly Italian atmosphere found within the pizzeria. Offering everything from an espresso coffee and a deep filled sandwich, to a 3-course Italian style meal. Open from 11:00 to 02:00.

The hotel also boasts 2 popular bars, Wave and Bar-Rogue, both open until late with music and DJs.

By Car:
From the South:
- Exit the M6 at junction 19 (Knutsford).
- At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit, the A556 (for Manchester).
- Go past Mere Platt Farm and turn right at the 1st roundabout (M56).
- Follow signs for Manchester and go under Hulme Archway to the roundabout.
- Take the 2nd left into Medlock Street.
- Turn right at the 2nd set of traffic lights at Manchester Central (formerly G-MEX).
- Go through the traffic lights at McDonald's into Portland Street.
- The hotel is on the right, just after Yates's Wine Lodge.

From the East:
- Exit the M62 at junction 18 and turn left for Manchester.
- Follow the slip road onto the M60 and continue for 1.6 km (one mile) until it ends.
- At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit for the A570 to Manchester.
- After 3.2 km (2 miles), turn left at the Halfway House pub.
- After 3.2 km (2 miles), bear left and follow Piccadilly.

From the West:
- Exit the M62 at junction 12.
- Follow the M602 and get in the A57 lane for Manchester.
- Follow until Harry Ramsden's fish and chip shop is on the right.
- At the traffic lights, turn left into Water Street.
- Turn right into Quay Street.
- Carry on over tram lines and pass the Odeon Cinema on the left.
- Turn left at the next set of traffic lights into Portland Street.
- The hotel is on the right, just after Yates's Wine Lodge.
